Part of the fun for kids attending the Chapter 611 Port Huron, Michigan Junior Christmas Party is getting to take part in a Volunteer Service Project. This year, Chapter 611 used Volunteer Service Project Grant Funds to purchase colorful, cozy fleece and attendees helped tie the blankets. In addition, attendees were invited to donate a new pair of socks. Both the completed blankets and the collection of socks will be donated to Kids In Distress and will help keep children in need warm throughout the cold winter season.
Chapter 817, Je T'aime, Southfield, Michigan brought holiday cheer to needy children in the metro Detroit area by utilizing Volunteer Service Project Grant funds from Woman's Life to purchase items for gift bags which they handed out to the children at a Christmas Party. Each child in attendance received books and toys as they enjoyed fruit, snacks and beverges during an afternoon event planned by Chapter 817 members just for them. Members were rewarded with warm smiles for their spirit of giving.
When they learned that there were elementary school students within the Port Huron Area School District in need of items to help keep them warm, members of Chapter 611 Port Huron, Michigan went straight to work. They used Volunteer Service Project Grant funds from Woman's Life to purchase material to make fleece scarves. Fourteen members volunteered their time to select the material, sew the scarves and tie the ends to make 100 scarves that will definitely help keep the children warm this winter.
