National Cause

Answering the Call to Fight Homelessness and Hunger in America

Beginning in 2011 and continuing through our next quadrennial convention in August, 2014, Woman’s Life Insurance Society will embrace as our National Cause: Answering the Call to Fight Homelessness and Hunger in America. Woman’s Life members across the country will combine their efforts to address the needs of those experiencing homelessness and hunger through building awareness, volunteer service projects and fundraising activities.

With historically high levels of unemployment, skyrocketing health care costs, and the ongoing housing crisis, one misfortune – a layoff, an injury, a mortgage default – can transform a person’s life beyond recognition. Affecting people in urban and rural areas and in all 50 states, the issues homelessness and hunger have truly touched the heart of America.

One of the goals of this Woman’s Life National Cause Program is to recognize that homelessness and hunger are everyone’s problem, and that we have an opportunity to be a part of the solution.

The time is now! Please join us in Answering the Call to Fight Homelessness and Hunger in America!

Chapter 839 Members Attack Childhood Hunger

Chapter 839 Members "Attack Childhood Hunger"

Members and guests of Woman's Life Chapter 839, Rockford, Michigan volunteered to help the Kids Food Basket organization "Attack Childhood Hunger" in the greater Grand Rapids area. With an efficient assembly line set up, they made peanut butter sandwiches and packed them, along with juice boxes, bananas, crackers, granola bars and carrots, to make nutritious sack suppers for Grand Rapids area school children who would otherwise go hungry. Together, they packed approximately 3,300 sack suppers in just a few hours. It's truly amazing what a small group of dedicated volunteers can accomplish!
