Curtina Martin wants to empower
people to speak up and be heard.
“I want people to be able to own their voice
– especially women – to be able to speak their truth,”
she says. “It’s important for people to know they are not
alone, there is help, and there are resources out there
for them. A lot of people don’t know they can do that
unless someone shows them how.”
Martin’s hope for others is a reflection of her own
growth as a leader, both in Woman’s Life and in her
personal life.
“I have a desire to be a leader. I just don’t know in
exactly what capacity,” she says. “I want to have authen-
tic conversations and put myself forward. I get really
excited to listen to other people’s experiences and per-
spectives and see how I can apply them in my life.”
In a major boost to her mission of personal evolution
and leadership development, Martin applied for and

received a Woman’s Leadership Development Grant
from Woman’s Life. The $500 grant allowed her to at-
tend SHE a Personal and Professional Development
Series hosted by SheHive. Martin, an active member of
Chapter 817, Southfield, Michigan, says the experience
was incredibly rewarding and informative.
