Moratorium on Cancellations
Tennessee - Tornadoes
Recently, Tennessee experienced devastating tornadoes. These events resulted in the destruction of property, the displacement of many Tennesseans, and even the loss of life. Insurance companies licensed in Tennessee are requested to make every reasonable effort to assist policyholders who have experienced losses as a result of, or have otherwise been affected by, the tornadoes on March 31 and April 1, 2023.
Provide certificate owners living in Tennessee, who have suffered property damage, injuries or loss of life as a result of catastrophic tornadoes, with a 60-day extension to the Grace Period (and no late payment penalty) to pay their premium on cancellations/non-renewals and reinstatement premiums, by allowing a payment plan or further extension in paying the amount due in full between April 10 and June 10, 2023 to avoid cancellation. Additionally, suspend interest on loans for insureds who cannot submit premium payments.
The Moratorium Begin Date and the Moratorium End date are:
Moratorium Begin Date: April 10, 2023
Moratorium End Date: June 10, 2023
This moratorium is not a waiver of the premium requirement, but is only an extension of the grace period in which to pay the premium.
