Members of Chapter 132, PI Chapter Gamma Nu in Bluffton, Indiana held a bake sale fundraiser to benefit the kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Selling candy and baked goods made by chapter members, they raised, with matching funds, $504. Another sweet step toward our "Hope of Making it a Million Dollars" for St. Jude!
Members of Chapter 818 Algonac, Michigan took a positive step toward putting their futures first by having Edie Walters from the Home Office Sales Department come to their meeting and explain the basics of Fixed Deferred Annuities. This presentation describes how Fixed Deferred Annuities work and how they can fit into a retirement savings plan. Of course everyone wants to continue having fun long into the future, and early planning can make it possible.
Serving as a chapter officer is a rewarding leadership opportunity. Chapter officers inspire others by example, and empower them to reach higher and make a difference every day. At their recent meeting, members of Chapter 721 Pennville, Indiana recognized their chapter officers and the hard work they do to keep the chapter moving in the right direction. Some of the members of Club 11 Port Huron demonstrated their Connection by wearing their eye-catching lime green chapter shirts to their meeting at Home Office. With founder Bina West Miller's portrait watching over them, they made plans for exciting fundraisers and volunteer service projects in 2010.
Chapter 830 Port Huron hosted a Pizza and Salad luncheon at the First Congregational Church and invited local firefighter Pat Moore to speak about his organization, The Harvest of Haiti. He talked about his many trips to Haiti during the past decade and his upcoming trip to bring food and medicine to areas hardest hit by the recent earthquake. Chapter 830's total donation of $2,270 was presented to Pat by chapter president and home office employee, Shelly Miller and First Congregational Church Pastor James Edwards.
Chapter 611 Port Huron recently made and donated 16 fleece blankets to Marwood Manor. The warmth and comfort provided through this Volunteer Service Project took on a new meaning when 611 member and Home Office employee Kristi Tanton, along with her brother, Patrick and sister Katie, visited their grandmother, Corinne Wells, at Marwood on Christmas Day. They were pleasantly surprised to find that Corinne was a recipient of one of the blankets donated by Chapter 611.
